When Spruce magazine recently invited the who’s who of Victoria’s design and build community to an after-work social, it was only fitting that they’d gather in one of the city’s most dramatically designed spaces.
On October 3, about 75 designers, builders, makers, suppliers, retailers and other guests gathered in the soaring lobby of the Franc D’Ambrosio-designed Atrium to enjoy an event sponsored by Ruffell & Brown and Pacific Awnings and complemented by food and wine from Zambri’s restaurant.
But the event wasn’t just about Prosecco and networking. It was also the opportunity for the team from Page One Publishing to announce two exciting new initiatives for Spruce, the city’s premier home design magazine.
The first is the new “Spruce Up” consumer event series. It kicks off with Spruce Up Your Kitchen on February 6 at the Oak Bay Beach Hotel, when a panel of design and construction professionals will discuss all things kitchen, from refresh to rebuild.
The second is the first-ever Spruce Magazine Awards of Excellence. The Spruce Awards will recognize Vancouver Island’s remarkably rich and deep community of designers, builders, architects, cabinet makers, landscapers and everyone who works in the field of home design. They will be held next fall; the call for nominations will be announced early in the New Year.
